The Korea-Myanmar
Industrial Complex (KMIC) is an industrial complex under construction led by LH
Corporation, the Myanmar Ministry of Construction, and Global SAE-A in the
ASEAN region, drawing attention as a project that will serve as a bridgehead
for economic cooperation between Korea and Myanmar. It is expected to greatly
contribute to the development of construction technology in Myanmar by sharing
know-how with Myanmar’s local constructors.
This construction will cover 1,273,000 m2 of the
total area of 2,249,000 m2, including Phase I industrial complex and
infrastructure facilities. Construction of infrastructure facilities, such as
roads, power generation and water purification, will be financed by Korea
Eximbank from the resources of the Economic Development Cooperation Fund
(EDCF).
This project is one of
the three major goals of the Myanmar government. By winning this bid, SAE-A STX
ENTECH has successfully laid a foundation to expand its business to Southeast
Asian area. “The KMIC project will trigger our provision of the best services
for Myanmar to lead their economic development,” said Ahn Seok-Hwan, STX’s CEO.
“The project will also lead to export of advanced technologies such as Korean
ICs and smart cities.”
SAE-A STX ENTECH, which
is specialized in EPC contracts under Global SAE-A, is establishing itself as a
global EPC provider, recently constructing anti-pollution facilities for major
domestic ironworks and power plants based on its technological prowess and
abundant experience. They have won the bids for a water treatment facility for
crude oil production in the Rumaila, Iraq, one of the world’s largest oil
fields, and a flare system for incineration of harmful gases in the West Qurna-2.
