Won a Contract for Desulfurization Facility for
Thermal Power Plant Worth of KRW 60.5B

On December 14, SAE-A STX
ENTECH, which is specialized in EPC contracts under Global SAE-A, announced
that they have signed a procurement contract for desulfurization facility for Unit
4 at Boryeong Thermal Power Plant with KOMIPO. The construction is scheduled to
be completed by December 2022.
This construction was
based on the successful improvement of environmental facilities for
desulfurization, denitrification and dust collection for Unit 3 at Boryeong
Thermal Power Plant, which won the grand prize in the environmental facility at
the “2020 Green Construction Industry Awards” jointly hosted by the Ministry of
Land, Infrastructure and Transport and the Ministry of Environment. STX has
been engaged in environmental facility construction at domestic and foreign
thermal power plants for 25 years.
The desulfurization
facility won by STX raises a removal efficiency of sulfur oxide generated from
the 500MW power generation to at least 98.86%. An absorption tower for
simultaneously removing nitrogen oxides and sulfur oxides and an exhaust gas
leak-free gas heat exchanger will be introduced, while carrying out
installations of instruments, controllers, electrical system and ancillary equipment,
as well as civil construction works.
Replacing the old
desulfurization facilities of coal power plants with new high-efficiency
facilities
will lead to improvement
of removal efficiency for sulfur oxides in exhaust gases, which is also
expected to have a positive effect on the government’s anti-pollution policies.
“For encouraging the government’s anti-pollution policies, we will do
our best to provide atmospheric environment facilities of thermal power plants,
and the indoor coal storages to prevent coal scattering,” said Ahn Seok-Hwan,
STX’s CEO. “We will revitalize domestic and overseas plant construction by
actively challenging the fields of chemical power plant and infrastructure.”
